Job Description
1. To monitor day to day safe, efficient technical operation and management of Vessels assigned.
2. To be assigned as Back up Superintendents for Vessels of another Technical Superintendent of Fleet.
3. Day-to-day co-ordination with HSEQ & Marine Superintendent, Crewing dept etc to ensure smooth technical management of his assigned Vessels.
4. Reporting important aspects on Ships under his charge to Fleet Manager and Fleet Director, appraise on potential problems / remedies. To give guidance to Vessels under his charge.
5. To review and verify that incoming reports, periodical reports from the Vessels are reviewed and attended as required. Defects, troubles are reviewed, analyzed and attended accordingly.
6. To ensure that feedback received from any ship which may be useful on-board other ships is brought to the attention of Fleet Manager.
7. To prepare routine technical reports, get them reviewed by Fleet Manager and forward to Owners as required by them. To keep Owners well updated on Vessels status and issues, if any.
8. To ensure that at all times the Classification & Statutory survey status are maintained for all his assigned Vessels, all surveys are carried out within due dates and that all trading certificates are valid. To ensure that his assigned Vessels are always maintained in sea worthy condition and fit for intended business.
9. To promptly act to take corrective measures when any problem is reported by the Master concerning ship’s sea worthiness, safety, pollution and to keep DPA, Fleet Director, Fleet Manager well informed.
10. To assist and prepare annual Opex Budget, periodical Opex Vs Budget report and appraise Fleet Manager. To prepare budget forecast of his Vessels keeping in mind the latest statutory, government and port regulations, actual expenses, trading pattern, vessel types and machinery, maintenance, survey requirements etc and submit to Fleet Manager.
11. To monitor the Vessels actual expenses vs opex monthly basis and appraise Fleet Manager and Fleet Director in case the variance is exceeding more than 5 % of budget. To monitor that fund are regularly receipt from Owners of the Vessel of his Fleet.
12. To carry out Vessel periodical inspections, prepare inspection report, to prepare Docking specs, docking budget and attend Dry dock as directed by Fleet Manager / Fleet Director.
13. To Plan, prepare, supervise running repairs and dry docking.
14. To monitor Vessel requirements for spares, stores, services, Surveys and make timely arrangements of same.
15. To ensure effective implementation of PMS, Ship management system. Make arrangements that vessel operates as per PMS and SMS.
16. To approve the requisitions before P.O and approve the invoices following company established requisition and invoice approval matrix.
17. To carry out duties following company internal procedure and department hand book.
18. To deal with contingencies and emergencies as defined in the Emergency contingency manual.
19. To carry out ad hoc duties as assigned by Fleet Manager and Fleet Director.
Requirement
1. Diploma Degree or above.
2. Marine Chief Engineers 's license (Chief Engineer certificate of competency), 2 years Chief Engineer ’s sailing experience or above.
3. Bulker Experience or Tanker experience.
4. Dry docking experience (when 2/E or C/E) is preferred.
5. Good organization, communication and people management skills.
6. Good command of written and spoken English.
